What a wonderful summer it has been, as I have traveled our great state promoting the Florida Sportsmen United Political Committee. I've been to the town of Perry, FL on three different occasions, speaking at the annual meetings of the Camp Misery, Three Rivers and Sand Hills hunting clubs. Earlier in the summer, I traveled to Cross City to meet with the board of directors of the North Central Florida Dog Hunters Association, and later was the lead speaker at its annual meeting, which attracted almost 500 folks.
In mid-July, I met with the board of directors of Three Rivers hunting club, on another trip to Perry, and at the conclusion of my meeting with them, they presented me with a $1500 check.
I also took a trip down to Okeechobee, to attend the Florida Airboat Association Unity Weekend. That two night event provided me with the opportunity to speak at the FAA quarterly board meeting on Friday night, and then I spoke to 328 attendees on Saturday night at the Unity Weekend Dinner. That trip resulted in a contribution in excess of $2200 from the FAA.
Moving in to August, the Florida State Dog Hunters Association, based out of Tallahassee, invited me to attend their board of directors meeting, and soon after leaving I received a call that a contribution of $1000 was forthcoming, with the promise of more. And, they extended an invitation for me to speak at their annual meeting the week before Thanksgiving.
My most recent travel took me over to Blackwater State Forest, to the Coldwater Creek Recreational Area. That was the site of the Southeastern Dog Hunters Association "Dog Days of Summer" Fox Hound Field Trial. What a wonderful turnout they had, and after speaking to the crowd I was fortunate to have 35 folks donate to the political committee.
As we approach in the end of August, we are closing in on reaching $10,000 in contributions! This could not have been made possible without the generous support of individuals and organizations from around the state, and your support is greatly appreciated. But, this puts us just 1/10th of the way to our overall goal of raising $100,000. So, we need you to keep spreading the word about the Florida Sportsmen United Political Committee. We want to make sportsmen's voices heard loud and clear during the 2018 elections and beyond. Be a part of the team and make a contribution today.
